Sikkim

A DREAMY HIMALAYAN BLISS

Sikkim is an Indian state which sits above West Bengal. India's first organic state was previously a territory ruled by the Chogyals or the priest-kings until the territory decided to merge with independent India. Located at a close proximity to the Himalayas, its mean elevation is 8586 meters. Hence, it enjoys a humidity-free weather year round, making it a perfect spot to drop by to escape the tropical summer heat. Sikkim is where India's tallest mountain peak, the mighty Kanchenjunga partially lies. It is also a rich ecological hotbed which inhabits a rich population of butterflies, the rare red pandas, rhododendrons and exotic orchids.

HOW TO REACH SIKKIM

Sikkim is inaccessible by train since the uneven topography of the state is unfit for the laying down of tracks. The nearest railway station is New Jalpaiguri Railway Station, situated in Siliguri, West Bengal. The capital town of Gangtok is approximately 4 and a half hour away from the railway station and the bus station (Tenzing Norgay Bus Station).

BEST SEASON TO EXPLORE SIKKIM

Summer, spring, and winter are the three seasons ideal for a trip to Sikkim. Summer, though short-lived, commands clear blue skies for ideal activities like hiking and bird watching. Spring is when the International Flower Festival is held. During winters, you can watch the locations get blanketed in powdery snow.
